In 2011, whilst working as a freelance graphic designer, I did a community college evening course in porcelain jewellery and was hooked! After a couple of years of balancing graphic design work and ceramic exploration, I decided to focus on ceramics completely. I still feel like a relative newcomer to clay and will never stop experimenting. I have always loved figurative sculpture so I can't help giving everyday functional items a personality whether it is human or animal or a mixture of the 2. I also love colour and porcelain and stoneware are the ideal materials to add vibrant colour to. I use a simple, decorative and graphic approach to the pieces and I purpose glaze selected elements to highlight the contrast between matt and gloss. I am driven to make things that make me happy and hope that in doing so I bring a little joy into people’s homes and make them smile.
